realaudio under os/2! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ this document will help you get realaudio working under os/2 in a winos2 session.. you'll need to update the dos tcp/ip drivers and add some stuff to your autoexec.bat, its not too hard =) first, grab the dos tcp/ip update from here, copy it to a temp. directory and run "dosbox ." (notice the "."!) to unpack the files, now reboot.. when it displays the "OS/2 Warp" thing at the top of the screen, press ALT-F1, then F2 to go to a command prompt. when the system is done booting, go into the temp. directory and copy: vdostcp.sys into c:\tcpip\bin vdostcp.vdd into c:\mptn\bin vdosctl.exe into c:\mptn\bin vdebug.exe into c:\mptn\bin winsock.dll into c:\tcpip\dos\bin type "exit", the computer will reboot as usual.. once the system has booted, edit c:\autoexec.bat and add the line "SET ETC=C:\MPTN\ETC", then add "C:\TCPIP\DOS\BIN;" to the path statement. now that dos tcp/ip is upgraded and working, you need to get realaudio 5.0 from here. choose the 5.0 version for OS/2 (which is actually the win3.1 version), download it along with Video for Windows, its on the same download page as Realaudio 5.0... Install Realaudio 1st but don't let it install itself into Netscape/2! It will corrupt your netscape.ini file (which is bad!). close Realaudio, install Video for Windows and then re-open Realaudio, everything should be fine! if you get an error about it can't be run in a seemless session, you'll need to edit win.ini, under [drawdib] add "DVA=0" then save. edit system.ini, search for "device=dva.386", remove that line and save.. everything should work fine and dandy now =)
