1: What is the scope of InnoTek's offering?

InnoTek OS/2 Kit for Java 1.4.2 is an implementation of the latest Sun Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) platform for OS/2 Warp. InnoTek has licensed the current Java technology from Sun Microsystems and has certified the product as Java Compatible?. InnoTek OS/2 Kit for Java 1.4.2 is the most up to date, complete and best performing Java implementation for OS/2. This includes the following components:

    * JRE (runtime) and SDK (software development) distributions
    * Sun HotSpot? virtual machine, client and server version
    * Java Web Start 1.4.2 deployment tool
    * Java Plug-In for IBM Web Browser for OS/2 and Mozilla


2: OS/2 is a rapidly declining market. What is InnoTek's commitment towards supporting this product and continued availability of the latest Java platform versions?

InnoTek is the leading ISV offering solutions for OS/2 enterprise customers. InnoTek works closely with its customers and IBM to fully understand the requirements of the OS/2 enterprise market during the extended transition period. InnoTek OS/2 Kit for Java has been specifically designed to enable customers to transition to modern e-business technologies while phasing out OS/2 over a longer period of time. InnoTek's technology has made it possible to develop, support and maintain the product with very low costs and thus we are able to continue offering the product and even deliver new Java functionality as it becomes available from Sun Microsystems even for a rapidly shrinking market and declining customer base.


3: Personal use of InnoTek OS/2 Kit for Java 1.4.2 is free of charge. What is InnoTek's definition of "personal use"?

InnoTek OS/2 Kit for Java 1.4.2 may be downloaded and used free of charge for personal, i.e. individual use. This includes both noncommercial and commercial use. Personal (individual) use requires you to download and install the product yourself on your computer or computers. Installing the product on a larger set of computers through software distribution does not qualify as personal use. For personal use, the product has to be downloaded from InnoTek's web site onto each individual computer and installed by the user. 4: Will InnoTek support the use of the Java Plug-In in Netscape 4.x?

InnoTek provides a fully functional and supported OJI Java Plug-In for use with IBM Web Browser for OS/2 and Mozilla for OS/2. Currently, InnoTek does not intend to provide support for the discontinued Netscape 4.x browsers. However, if there is sufficient customer demand, support for this environment can be provided as well.


5: Does InnoTek support existing JNI (Java Native Interface) modules written for the IBM JVMs?

InnoTek realizes the importance of backwards compatibility and has included special support for existing OS/2 JNI modules in OS/2 Kit for Java. A large number of tests have been performed to ensure full compatibility. Even IBM proprietary JNI extensions (such as 64bit integer handling) are fully supported and there are no known restrictions.
