SamTAM Chipsets supported MWave Availability Freeware. Contact Author: Sam Detweiler, Sam_Detweiler at ibm.net Web page: http://www.ole.net/~sdetweil/ Description SamTAM provides the following features: * Voicemail * Multiple mailbox support (up to 999 mailboxes) * Receive or send faxes * Faxback (up to 1000 documents) * Pager support * Callerid support * Full duplex speakerphone * Remote access SamTAM is implemented as extensions to the WPS folder class. The program is therefore fully integrated into the WPS, and uses drag and drop (for speakerphone dial, fax print, fax send), settings notebooks, templates, etc. When SamTAM is installed, two folders are created on the desktop. One holds incoming messages; the other holds phonebook entries. Phonebook entries are also WPS objects -- SamTAM can export these as a REXX exec for backup purposes. SamTAM does not require third party fax software to send or receive faxes. However, if you want to create a faxback system, you will need to use a separate program (e.g. FaxWorks Lite) to create the fax files that you want to send. Faxback can be configured to dial the caller back, or to force a manual send (i.e., caller pays for the faxback call as well). This is achieved using a REXX exec: With FaxBack support there is a new file supplied, VERIFYNM.CMD, this takes the user entered phone number and returns the real number to dial, including any dial prefix. This gives the installation the ability to force a Manual send if the caller is out of the local area code and you want the caller to pay for the call. Returning "" will force the user into Manual Receive mode. Pager support can be passive (system notifies you when new voice messages or faxes have been received) or active (caller can enter their telephone no., which is sent to your pager instead of leaving a voicemail message). Callerid support allows you to specify actions based on the caller's telephone no.: * Unique greeting message per caller * Unique audio announcement per caller (play .WAV file) * No answer for selected numbers * Answer but no record for selected numbers * Special treatment for 'private caller' (caller disables number detection) * Optional dynamic creation of phonebook entries Note: Thinkpads and some Aptiva systems do not supply the hardware support to enable Callerid. SamTAM does not include base MWave drivers, i.e., it requires that OS/2 drivers for the appropriate MWave hardware be already installed and functioning.
