Available here is an emulator for the VZ200/300 computers called VZEM (vee zed 'em!) The emulator is under constant development, however it is still usable and accurately emulates the VZ hardware. BASIC INFORMATION The emulator is written in Borland C++ v3.0 for Dos. The Z80 cpu emulation routines were written by Marat Fayzullin. STATUS OF EMULATOR Currently it emulates: A VZ200/300 with 34k RAM Mode 0 graphics - full VZ character set and colours Mode 1 graphics - 128x64 graphics in 4 colours Video redraw and interrupts at 50hz Sound Virtual joystick using keyboard arrow keys Protected memory writes to ROM and cartridge area VZ keyboard array Loading and Saving of converted tape images Adjustable CPU speed Virtual joystick using PC cursor keys To Do: Joystick Printer Disk Drive Convert to Windows ...and heaps of other stuff! The zip file contains the emulator, VZ rom image, character font and utilities to convert VZ cassette tape audio to the emulator file format and vice versa. The emulator is a DOS program and runs best in a full screen. To get the best sound emulation, exit Windows and run under plain DOS. If your PC is faster than 200mhz, it is likely you will need to slow down the emulation by pressing PGUP. A picture of the VZ keyboard is very handy to have around to work out the keyboard mappings - right click the image below to save to your PC, then you can print it out or have it displayed on your desktop and switch to it when you need it.
