Additional Configuration Information:

1) The Dell single channel RAID card known as the PERC 2/SC is supported with the driver
named PEDGE2SC.ADD and its OS/2 RAID management utility is named PEDGE2SC.EXE.
This card is an entry level SCSI RAID controller. This card should not be confused with
the PERC II; there is no OS/2 driver for the PERC II.
2) The Intel Pro100+ used drivers from the diskette area A:\NDIS
3) The Dell PowerEdge 1300/400 was tested first as an Additional Server, then later as
a Domain Controller in the Dell Server Custom Engineering Lab.
4) The MPTS FixPak WO8610 was applied in order to make the Ethernet connections
stable for OS/2 Certification testing. The SCSI drivers used to install the operating system were from FixPak 35. FixPak 38 was applied later during testing for file system
stability. During installation, the hard drive was checked and the new SCSI drivers were
copied to C:\ and to C:\OS2\BOOT to keep it from using a mix of old and new drivers.
That procedure made the installation stable. However, customers are urged to apply FixPak 38 and pertinent MPTS FixPaks to make the entire OS/2 stable for networking operation as well as to apply all pertinent Y2K fixes to the base OS and all the subsystems in OS/2.
5) To test RAID 5 recovery, 1) the monitor.cmd file was run to launch PEDGEMON.EXE, a
RAID monitoring utility from the dual channel PERC in order to see changes to the drive states and to review rebuild drive status, 2) power was pulled from the middle drive to simulate a drive failure, 3) once the PERC alarm was quieted via the PEDGE2SC.EXE
program, the power was re-applied, 4) a rebuild was started manually with that utility after reviewing to see that the hard drive showed failed, and 5) the system was rebooted to prove the system would function after the rebuild.
