Additional Configuration Information:
This server's installation diskettes used the FixPak 42 drivers to ensure the OS/2 installed correctly from the CD media. The video choice was Super VGA; the onboard NIC was detected by the OS/2 as an OEM Intel card so a 3Com card was chosen instead to ensure that the real Intel drivers would install correctly later. On every reboot to the hard drive during the installation, the basedev drivers were re-copied back to C:\ and C:\OS2\BOOT and the HPFS.IFS file, Format, Chkdsk and Fdisk were also re-copied back to C:\OS2. This was to ensure that only new program files and drivers were in use during every reboot during the installation of the OS. The CONFIG.SYS file and the HPFS386.INI file were also modified to ensure proper rebooting during the installation.
The PERC 2/SC driver is PEDGE2SC.ADD and uses the same MONITOR.CMD to launch the same PEDGEMON.EXE controller disk and array monitoring utility as the one used on the PERC 2/DC. The PEDGE2SC.EXE program is an OS/2 array manager utility for the PERC 2/SC. The PEDGEMON.EXE monitoring program reports to FFST Log and Netfinity. Alerts are sent out whenever the controller, drive or array state changes.
The Ethernet NIC drivers for the Intel onboard NIC came from the Intel Etherexpress floppy labeled "Intel Pro/10+ LAN Adapter Configuration and Drivers Diskette SW Release 2.5.
The RAID controller was not detected by the OS/2 Certification software so drive failures were simulated by pulling out one drive while file copy activity continued. The pedgemon utility reported the change to the OS/2 screen as well as to Netfinity. The drive was pushed back in and the rebuild started automatically. The system was then rebooted. This was done for both phases of testing- Domain Controller and Additional Server. This is the standard method to test the RAID controller since the OS/2 Certification software does not detect the controller for RAID testing.
