H166314: PC SERVER 720: PROBLEM AFTER REPLACING PLANAR OR BRIDGE CARD

 TEXT:

Problems after replacing planar or bridge card.

 SYMPTOMS:

The system may experience any of the following problems:

 - network issues
 - performance issues
 - system hangs
 - abends
 - blue screens under NT

 PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

 - The system is a PC Server 720 server, Type 8642, any Model.

 FIX:

If an IPB Bridge card FRU p/n75H9149 is installed, then jumper
J24 on the planar must be set to 33MHz.

Note: The default setting of the jumper J24 is 25MHz (no jumper
 present indicates 25MHz as well).

 DETAILS:

Please refer to HMM pub# S30H-2501-01 page 376 for system board
layout with jumper location J24 (PCI speed select jumper).

Note: The planar is marked with the 25 and 33 MHz settings for
 J24. J24 is a 3 pin jumper and a 33MHz setting requires
jumpering the middle pin and the pin to the rear of the planar.

 NOTES:

If a 720 planar is replaced then the jumper should be removed
from the planar being replaced and installed on the new planar.
The planars from FRU stock will not have the correct jumper
setting for an IPB Bridge on J24 or may not have any jumpers
 installed on J24.
