PowerMail is a redundant and distributed system for receiving and storing electronic mail. Furthermore, incoming email can be forwarded to other email addresses. PowerMail is very well suited for installations that need to handle an extremely large amount of mailboxes and/or forwards. Centralized User Management PowerMail uses a central database to store all information about mailboxes and email forwards that you host. No system accounts are needed for mailboxes. User management is very easy and can be centralized and connected to your existing user database, whatever its make. Distributed Mail Storage Unlike regular mail solutions, there is no central storage point of failure. Mailboxes can easily span multiple machines or disks and individual messages can be present redundantly - on more storage nodes than one. This means that the failure of part of the storage subsystem means no downtime and no loss of mail. Innovative Message Delivery Mail is delivered straight into mailboxes - there is no intermediate copying going on. The upshot of this is incredible incoming performance which is typically the big bottleneck for large scale email solutions. Queueless delivery means never having to see a mailserver chug through heaps of stale email. Side benefit is that messages with many recipients are delivered only once. Identical copies are stored as 'hard links'. This makes emailing all your users a 'one minute' experience.
