Has anyone pulled one of these things apart? It looks like it will come apart with a bit of care, but I'd like to know how, I don't want to damage it. Alternatively, does anyone have dead battery packs of this flavour? Perhaps if I had a few that could be "sacrificed" I could then learn how to refurbish them without destroying their housing. -- Regards, Daryl Pilkington //// The PC Therapist, Business Computing Integration O OS/2 Warp, Redhat Linux, DB2 IBM Certified Systems Expert email: darylpatpc-therapist dot com dot au ICQ: 91914134 Tel: +61-2-8902-1300 Mob: +61-425-251-300 Mob SMS: 0425251300.0000atorangenet dot com dot au (120 characters max, send no carriage returns) 2============================================== Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 19:02:54 +0830 From: Leigh Bunting Subject: [os2genau] CD Audio playing problem Hi All, Any clues on this one. I recently upgraded to a SoundBlaster Live card from an ISA SB Vibra 16 card and having uninstalled MMOS2, re-installed, then the drivers (Sander Van Leeuwen's Linux port). However, using the build-in OS/2 CD player or the one I have been using for years (CDinaBox) wouldn't work. Keeps saying the CD is unattached and/or an rc=5010 error. Having checked the hardware all seemed fine. Then I found a CD player that does not use MMPM. Lo-and-behold - music!! As expected the hardware is cool. Sound there must be some issue with MMPM/MMOS2, but where, what, how? Thanks, Leigh Bunting Colonel Light Gardens South Australia Find out more about Col. Sure... but I think the issue is that you shouldn't have to. If you can install Windows ME and Linux on the same machine without any hangs or failures, why not OS/2. All variants from Windows95 thru to ME have made it more difficult than was necessary to install OS/2, from needing to set the OS/2 partition Startable using Fdisk (or the like), all the way to hunting down and destroying the boot manager partition (I believe this "feature" had to be removed from the beta before the GA was shipped). The only group I knew of was the one you mentioned, and like you said... it's closed. I don't know anyone much else in Perth and I have been relying pretty much on the overseas OS/2 web sites for updates, news, etc, until I joined this list. Not much interest in the office I work in. Most machines are the sort susceptible to the VBS viruses that come rolling through the place, with a few OS/2 holdouts (well, the smarter people) in other groups that I know of. 6============================================== From: "Ian Manners" Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 20:33:21 +1000 (EST) Subject: [os2genau] strange email goings on Hi everyone I'm hoping that someone will be able to put some light on this, there is an email address msuspprtcomcmptratnetscape dot net that bounce back to me, generating 4 error messages for every post to the list. it appears to be generated by an as unknown email address on this list, which must be forwarded on to some other email address. The message I get back is from MAILER-DAEMONataol dot com but with a header claiming it is from juicer38.bigpond dot com juicer38.bigpond dot com [139.134.6.95] appears to be a gateway translater of some sort. This complete trail is returned to me in the error message, and is definitly not normal. Unfortunetly, due to juicer38.bigpond dot com I've been unable to see to whom the email was send to from the list, its dumped the email address the list send it to, and replaced it with msuspprtcomcmptratnetscape dot net !!! Hmm, MS U SuPPoRTCOMCMPTR :-) It has also been happening since the list was setup, so as you can imagine, is generating an awful lot of extra email error messages for me. 7============================================== Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 20:16:40 +0830 From: Leigh Bunting Subject: Re: [os2genau] strange email goings on Ian Manners wrote: > I'm hoping that someone will be able to put some light on this, there is an email > address > > msuspprtcomcmptratnetscape dot net I received a bounce with this address and this is some of the detail: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- ----- Transcript of session follows ----- .... while talking to air-na02.mail.aol dot com.: >>> RCPT To: <<< 552 msuspprtcomcmptr MAILBOX FULL 554 ...
