IBM has stopped support for OS/2, as of Jan31, 2001. Dont Panic, there are still the mailing lists. The IBM "persons" have got it right, there is no longer "free" support for Warp v4, there is still the option of getting paid support but thats a bit on the steep side for non corporate users, plus the fact most aussie service people are hopeless when it comes to OS/2, notice I did say most. >Support for OS/2 Server for e-business continues. Of which most FP's will work with Warp v4.5, hence the code base intergration between Warp v4.5 and WSeB. And dont forget there is also the option of Purchasing eComStation, which will also give you support, and a good price on a SoftWareChoice alternative. http://www.ecomstation dot com dot au http://www.ecomstation dot com >On the other hand Netscape 6.01 for OS/2 should be relased soon. IBM has stopped support for OS/2, as of Jan31, 2001. Support for OS/2 Server for e-business continues. On the other hand Netscape 6.01 for OS/2 should be relased soon. In spite of the above, I think I will continue to use Warp4 until the candles blow out. It is the best OS I have experienced, although Linux (SuSE) is now running a second best. I used to work in IBM Adelaide and I'd like to put this person as well as yourselves right on the matter. IBM have a published policy on OS/2 support over the next 5 years. Basically support is received is you take out a support contract (software choice). This is documented in a PDF file available on the web. We keep seeing new developments for OS/2. The new Browser (Equivalent of Netscape 6) was released two days ago, as was a new HTTP (Web) server for OS/2. So IBM ARE still developing for OS/2 and obviously supporting these developments as well as the base OS. It could be that "Free" support is being stopped. This is not unusual. How much do you want to get for your $250 ?? Microsoft, Novell, Sun etc. all do the same. The New Convienience Pack version of OS/2 Warp Client (released about 6 weeks ago) is definately fully supported. Have you tried getting support for Windows 3.1 NT 3.51 or even Windows 95 from Microsoft lately ?? Regards, Ed Durrant. P.S. Please be careful posting such "rumours" to news lists, they spread like wildfire. e.howardatwriteme dot com wrote: > Hi All, > Saddest news, when talking to one of the IBM technical support persons, in > Adelaide, yesterday.
