Yes they are. BUT.. These files on TestCase are supposed to be for paying customers who report particular problems. The files are attempts by IBM to address their problems and may in fact make any problem of YOURS worse. (IF you in fact have any at all.!) They are NOT updates at all. And are "use at your own risk". Since you or I, do not know what has prompted the creation of these files I cannot predict the consequences of applying them. If YOU apply them, you have NO right of complaint with IBM and any complaint will be ignored. DO NOT USE THEM unless you are either, adventurous, desperate or stupid, or stupid, or stupid. >Has anyone installed these? NO. And neither should you. The latest kernel from Testcase are also placed there as "no warranty" and are effectively a public beta. You will probably have better luck with kernel fixes, but I would recommend waiting a week or so and wait for comments, complaints or praise messages to appear on the newsgroups. The newsgroup to watch is comp.os.os2.bugs and the person to look for is the controller of the kernel fixes team, Scott E. Garfinkle from "NCSD OS/2 Service". His recent reply to the functionality of these HPFS fixes was:- Quote, "Leave it alone for now." ! End Quote. IBM PPPServer (Used to be called LAN Distance) or 2. FX Communications PPPConnect product. For info on the first go to IBM's Software Choice page at http://techsupport.services.ibm dot com/asd-bin/doc/en_us/catalog.htm For Info on PPPConnect go to Bjarn's site at http://www.fx.dk Bjarnes product is like an ISP would use, it only suuports TCP/IP however LAN access can be achieved by using Netbios over IP. The IBM Product is a transparent gateway if you use the compatible client. Meaning you can run Netbeui and TCP/IP and SNA (IEEE 802.2) across it. If you simply use a dialer, then you can only run TCPIP (as that's all the dialer supports). It then has the same capabilities as the FX Product. The IBM product is obtained as part of a Software Choice subscription. Bjarnes products (and he has a lot of OS/2 comms products) are bought individualy via credit card over a secure web site or via his Australian agent. Hope this helps. Ed Durrant.
