The original adaptec driver supplied with Warp 4 killed my tape drive. The current one, I have 4 SCSI HD's, CDR, & Scanner all hanging off, perfect. >I dare to say, if there are problems with this one, the SCSI setup should be scrutinized >first. Ditto, though it may just be a case of Ed's scanner isnt supported with CFM, so Ed may have to wait for an updated sane, and/or try other programs. Also the bloated ones are suppost to have better cache enabled, the first bloated one though did keep crashing my system. 12/07/99 15:15 134280 0 AIC7870.ADD This is the one I use. Eds got the one after but as I'm happy with the one I currently have, I'm not budging :-) Cheers Ian B Manners 7================================================ Date: Mon, 21 May 2001 07:33:32 +1000 From: Ed Durrant Subject: Re: [os2genau] Canon Scanner under OS/2 Yes - that driver was added into config.sys by the install program. By the way, the last time you asked, I was trying to use SANE/2 (ie no CFM component) which is why I didn't refer to your earlier comment. I believe the software can see the scanner as - when I start the scanning application, it won't work unless I have added an entry into the scanner.ini file and that entry refers back to the ID sent from the SCSI bus. Hence to do this validation, it has to be able to see the scanner. What is more likely is that the codes used with the Canon 620 are different to those used for the 600 (also why there is a patch for SANE specifically for the 620 I guess). In the meantime, I have checked out all of the supplied cfg files and none of them work with this scanner. Do you know if there's an e-mail list for CFM Twain support ? Perhaps someone has already created a Canon 620 S cfg file ? Ed. New - from a normal chain of shops (Strathfield's), not from auction. Yes IMPos/2 - that's worth a try ..... I'll go see if they have this model listed. The comapny I used to work for Munich used the Impos guys to write custom OS/2 software for them. I know they're a very technically solid company. The company's not called Impos though is it ? This is my latest advice so far :( and I am not keen to aim for a worse record. Welcome one and all to the OS/2 SIG meeting for May, where the power of Notes will be demonstrated once again, taking up from where we left off last time. We *should* also have some news for long-suffering and patient people who have ordered the eCS upgrade to their Warp 4. (Consolation prize: we have all learned how to be patient, haven't we?). We have anticipated the release of eCS with a couple of items in the evening's schedule. In April we saw the early stages of a Lotus Notes connection to a server and having resolved the hiccup which spoiled some of the demo, we will look at more than a Mail client this month. Notes power is available to handle almost any document or data control process, with Notes Templates available from Lotus and from Notes developers for commonly identified tasks. After that, Notes developers can build applications from scratch, and Antony Shepherd will report from some of the applications in which he has been involved during his time as a Notes evangelist and developer. So in summary: 6:30pm Open Forum: News, Views and Interesting Happenings 7:00pm Discussion - Planning for support of the new eCS platform 7:15pm Planning for an ecS Install-fest!! Approx 7:45pm Guest Presentation by Antony Shepherd: Lotus Notes on OS/2 - twice the value! 9:30 Adjournment to eatery Best regards John Angelico OS/2 SIG talldadatmelbpc dot org dot au or talldadatkepl dot com dot au -------------------------------------------- PMTagline v1.50 - Copyright, 1996-1997, Stephen Berg and John Angelico ....
