If this is Warp 4 the default is NOT to use IRQ 7 or 5 for the printer, however if this is Warp 3 or the /IRQ switch has been added to print01.sys in config.sys, the OS will use IRQ7 for LPT1 and IRQ5 for LPT2. While you're checking this check what IO address is assigned. Although 378 is normal (and what I would always set LPT1 to), 3BC (I think) is also possible. also check the mode ECP/EPP/Basic, extended/bidirectional etc. The other obious thing to check that the correct printer is in use. Even if you have re-installed a printer driver, it is not 100% sure that, that's what selected in the properties of the printer object. Third (and possibly most likely), this could be a hardware problem. The printer cable, or the connector or socket at one or other end could be damaged. The member hasn't recently changed the printer cable has he/she ? Some of the cheaper cables don't have enough wires connected through for some makes of printer. HP is particularly "picky". (it may work under Windows 95 but not NT or OS/2). Oh and another thought - stear clear of installing printer "monitoring" tools unless you know exactly what you are doing. These have a nasty habit of messing things up ! Cheers/2 Ed.
