[all innocent] Now I wonder if this might happen to be associated with a new release of a Microsoft "operating system"??? MS wouldn't do that would they? They are a part of the wonderful free enterrprise American system which is the envy of all the world... It is significant that two of the major Australian corporate accounts which MS "won" to NT a few years ago (Telstra our phone monopolist and the Commonwealth Bank) have not said a lot about XP. I happen to have heard a little birdie tell me that the bank dropped 8-digit sums trying to get NT to catch up to the (partially completed) stage reached by the original OS/2 project, could NOT match function points achieved, nor could the developers dream of attaining the planned functions. The bank's decision-maker who mounted the case for NT no longer works there. Neither does NT, but IBM has politely agreed not to use any information about the failures in any way. I wonder what kind of WTC-type [shudder!] disaster it would take to wake up IBM Corporate to the need for careful use of similar tactics to MS, to regain some lost ground? Maybe the AS-400 team could teach the OS/2 team a few lessons in savvy marketing?
