There are even JFS problems with eCS off the CD:- there are fixes already! I would not recommend upgrading over an existing Warp 4 or even eCS preview edition. Start with a HDD with no partitions & let LVM loose on it. If you want to fiddle with dual-booting Warp4 / eCS / Convenience Pack whatever, rehearse it 1st a few times on a test HDD. It is not a job for the faint-hearted. Expect something to go wrong somewhere & trash your partitions. I installed eCS on a blank HDD no problems:- its now 800km away in rural Victoria. Still skipping frames a bit with VideoCD, so your 2nd point about throughput is valid too. Installed a faster SCSI2 HDD, (an IBM), makes a big difference to boot & software load times, especially things like Java. Just shows you OS/2 is very file-dependent, so fast I/O is A Good Idea. I have some VideoCDs that Trap 000d in CDFS.IFS as soon as you access them. Any ideas? Could perhaps changing the order of BASEDEVs or DEVICE fix this problem?
