I've heard of that, if the rate of spam increases it might be worth a look as well as a new ISP. Thanks Graham. You need to differentiate between SPAM, where someone simply gets into an ISP and broadcasts somehow through their mail servers and unwanted mail, where either you unknowingly have given your email to a company who has then sold it on to a marketting company - this is not SPAM and perfectly legal as long as the original company gives you a way of marking your entry to say you don't want your email address passing on. The default is they can and often the button to turn it off is small and often at the bottom of a form, off screen. the moral, as has always been is "read the small print" before giving anyone your details. FWIW. I have found that star office 5.1 does a better job of M$ stuff than smartsuite. Smartsuite gets to the point at times of saying "I don't understand this format" but it still opens fine in M$ and SO. steve On Sunday 12 May 2002 15:53, you wrote: > In <200205091056.00003XMKatmail.os2site dot com>, on 05/09/2002 > > at 10:57 AM, "John Angelico" said: > >On Wed, 08 May 2002 23:19:43 +1000 (EST), Daryl Pilkington wrote: > >>Hi John! > > > >Hi Daryl. > > > >>Thanks for your comments. > >> > >>My thinking is to have a Windoze box with MS Orifice & IE, when other > >>alternatives don't work. > >>This box, with the aid of Ghostscript & GSView, can at least convert > >>the documents to something that is portable. > > > >Yes that I follow. > > > >>You mention, "...would like to know your answers to the above as well." > >> > >>What other things do you need answers for? > >>ATO electronic lodgement? > >>Video conferencing? > > > >And PowerPoint. > > > >>Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, solutions for the above are > >>not available for eCS. > > What about SmartSuite? It's not perfect, but when it doesn't load a word doc, it doesn't give you false hope, then load pages of boxes where the text used to be; like M$ Office does. Star Office CAN open Powerpoint files, but it's not as stable as it's word conversions. Star Impress I've found a bit unstable anyway. Yhere will be no V6 for OS/2. Lotus on the other hand have just released V1.7 of Smartsuite for Warp 4 and V1.8 is slated for release later this year. I also prefer Star Office over Smartsuite by the way. Cheers/2 Ed. Gavin Miller wrote: > > On Mon, 13 May 2002 21:49:19 +1200, Steve Edmonds wrote: > > >Hi.
