So I hereby call the fundraising closed. Thanks for everyone's contributions! Mike Kaply ---END FORWARDED MESSAGE--- -- Warpstock 2005 - Where/When? I agree that some form of donation-ware would be helpful, and the success of the tinderbox appeal is very encouraging. The OS/2 SIG here has access to one of your mirrors (os2site dot com), so the level of activity in your fat pipe probably doesn't reflect the real level of interest shown via mirrors. So I have two questions: a) How much revenue would the Uni want to see to prevent closure of Hobbes? and b) Is there any mileage in demonstrating the value of Hobbes via the mirrors? I then turned off the RAID functionality and, viola, install went with no problems. Reinitialising the RAID chip (for the ATA emulation and access to my other HDD's)caused the LVM problems in my original post to re-occur. Finally, I installed the latest version (1.70) of DANIS506.ADD and the problems went away because of a fix for the nVidia2 chipset. I guess the moral of the story is to make sure you use the latest IDE drivers during any install. Many thanks for the prompt... it helped me look at the problem from another angle.
