Actually Kev and I live about 10km from each other, but both under the Darling Range, here in Perth. It is likely we may have bumped into each other in the early nineties, as we both knew the mythical Colin Wheat, of OS/2 fame in Perth. I did see the system, and it works very nicely without hiding Drive Letters. He doesn't use what I have done, but does use JJCDROM, which I have never used, as i don't have anything DVD at this time. The device description that goes into cddrv.inf wasn't working, so I've gone back to what I had before /daniatap.flt /A:1 /U:0 /RSJ/, simply because I like the way my drives are set out. Tell me Kev, do you have the /W switch after JJS. I tried that and it works but for me it swapped my drive lettering around. I agree with him. The last M$ I owned was M$-DOS 3.3. From DR-DOS 5.0 onwards I left M$ behind. I had to work with Window$ of course, but I've never bought it (except as Win-OS/2). In fact, 1 of my multi-boot options is still DR-DOS 7.03, for those couple of favourite games. Btw, single pass diskcopy was reality with only 2mb of RAM in DR-DOS - that's what I had. Hi Kev, I realised I didn't need 4MB to do that but I went directly to the 80286 machine from a Japanese [Panafacom - DUET16] *8086* machine with superb graphics for the day, that used three colour planes - separate boards - [640x400x16+inverse] and could overlay the graphics with the B800-BFFF text plane [scroll over]! Unlike the existing IBM graphics, it cleared all graphics planes when changing modes - never the "garbage" residue seen on IBM compatibles on mode-changes! Everyone said to me when I asked for 4MB RAM with my first 80286 -- "what do you need 4MB for??"!! Same as they said "why do you want a 68MB NEC HDD, no-one else has more than 40MB"! MY first computer was a ZX80 then a VZ200, then VZ300, Amstrad CPC6128, PC AT 286 wopping 4meg RAM, 2 meg onboard + 2meg on a Intel ISA Above Board., 20meg HD and a "EGA" display. From there a 386, skipped all 486's [in hisight I am glad I did] then onto a Pentium 100mhz and carried on upto the latest stuff. It was the Amstrad that I began to learn about computers. I had added another 2 floppy disk interfaces [hardware] to the already 2 FDC and wrote the software and patched the BIOS on the Amstrad in both native Mullard BASIC BIOS and the CPM/3+ code all in Z80 assembler. Gezz if only I had the time and the patience to do that sort of stuff now.
