Can't say i've had any problems without one. However on noting that ClamAV was available, I tried installing it and frankly can't understand how it is used or whether i've installed it properly. There seem to be so many options that it's ridiculous. And if you want auto-update: .... although Symantec state they have stopped support for the OS/2 product, along with the windows Norton CE editions, the following work around to use the Linux versions live update files has been posted: You can workaround that problem by doing the following: Edit NAVLUOS2.INI to the following: ----- [NAVLUOS2] PacketName=ftp://update.symantec dot com/public/deutsch/virus_signaturen/ norton_antivirus_corp/rapidrelease/ennlu.lin UserName=anonymous Password=notmyemail at nowhere dot net ---- Save the file and you are done. NAV will work as before. Explanation: These are signatures for a Linux product, the structure of the package is the same as it was for OS/2, the only difference are two .DLLs for OS/2 (which haven't been changed for ages), instead of these two come two binaries for Linux which are completely ignored by the installer. The signatures however are updated successfully. Cheers/2 Ed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
