Has there been a posting on PCI Host Cards working with eCs-OS/2? I saw one in the shop the other day, and as I have USB1.2, it seems like an answer....at least until I saw the wintendo drivers required. I asked what drivers. The Sales Assistant did not know, but I worked out that they could mean USB Drivers....maybe rather similar to what I have in my CONFIG.SYS, as shown here: REM [USB section BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS BASEDEV=USBD.SYS BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS DEVICE=E:\OS2\BOOT\USBPRT.SYS REM DEVICE=E:\OS2\BOOT\USBMOUSE.SYS REM DEVICE=E:\OS2\BOOT\USBKBD.SYS DEVICE=E:\ECS\BOOT\USBRESMG.SYS BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /FLOPPIES:0 /REMOVABLES:4 /v Has anybody had success with these cards? Was there major surgery required to the above entries on order to make it work for eCs-OS/2? Look forward to, and thanks in advance to your answers. No ignorance involved . I didn't even know what to call them until I saw the writing on the card. If you have USB2.0 you don't need to know. If you have USB1.2 or 1.0., these cards slot into a spare PCI port you may have, and you have (usually) 4 USB Ports (on top of the two you probably already have. But these new 4 ports will run USB devices up to (so they say) 4 times faster than USB1.2, which is great for Memory Sticks, and maybe even a USB Storage Drive. Here in W.A., at Tandy's, one is available for $49. At our local computer store, they have an NEC for $35. I've just been kindly offered one for $15. Can't be bad. Stay tuned, and we'll see what happens. > Regards NICK ----------------------------------------------------------- nickl at pacific dot net dot au ----------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **= Email 7 ==========================** Date: Thu, 04 May 2006 16:05:41 +0930 From: Peter Jenkins Subject: MSM live chat I have just made contact with an old school mate from 1959 who is using MSN Live Chat Is there any way I can log in and "Live Chat" with him from my ecs 1.2 computer ? Go to Hobbes and do a search for "dMSN". That should guide to dMSN Chat. It's a *.wpi file, and it works for me. Be aware though, that you have to go to Hotmail and sign yourself up a mailing address. Then you should be able to use that address (abcdef at hotmail dot com) as your userid, and the password you create for them as your password, and that should get you in. Good luck.
