Hi Ed > http://www.os2site dot com appears to be down - Ian if you are >monitoring is this planned maintenance or is there a problem ? Had a few emails lastnight and checked but everythings up this side, even turned the router on and off but it appears to be some sort of DNS thing externally. Every now and then I get a flurry of activity on the firewall then it goes semi quite for a while. Have noticed that I have exceeded 1000 blacklisted IP's on the firewall for the first time but havent checked if there are any DNS servers listed that might be trying to get DNS info. Hi Dennis >The whole thing seems stupid, but the command copy is a command interperator command and not a stand alone program like xcopy.exe is. Therefore, if it is not being invoked it has to be because the command interperater is not running. As it is being invoked by another program, that other program must have suspended | killed | be running outside the command interperater environment. >Therefore you may need to call cmd.exe with 'copy 'messagefile' C:\tmp' as tit's parameters. That didnt work, tried that previously. I did find the answer and its now confirmed, (thanks Ed :-)), xcopy works fine. I can only put it down to clamd doing some wierd stuff, I'll see if it goes back to working as previously after the next ClamAV upgrade, if I remember.... I have just had a problem with the latest beta of eCS. Thought i'd splash out, well that was a bit of a woopsie:) After going through the first part of the installation, it comes to the first reboot. Then Disaster (yes with a capital D). My machine now is freezing during POST at reboot. After it recognises the hard disks it freezes, thus I cannot even get into the BIOS setup to make any mods. Definitely not good. Any ideas out there, because this is a relatively new machine and I would like to be able to keep using it :'( . I had eCS 1.2R sharing with WIN2K via Boot Manager. Working :-) . Cheers, Glenn Montgomery. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **= Email 9 ==========================** Date: Thu, 28 Dec 2006 22:21:51 +1100 (EDT) From: "Ian Manners" Subject: Re: Problem with eCS3 beta Hi Glenn >machine now is freezing during POST at reboot. First, after the obvious stuff like taking the lid off.... reseat RAM, and cards, check that all cables are correctly plugged in, including power cables and the primary power lead to the motherboard. Next if no joy, use the 'cmos/clock jumper' to put the BIOS into a virgin state, and then let us know what happens. Maybe not, the eCS beta has ACPI in it doesnt it, what PC and/or MB are you using, and try taking out any cards not needed to check the boot process. Simply resetting the CMOS might even do it.
