That's a bad reflection on SAMBA in some ways, SMB is a standard - the OS/2 client was one of the first SMB clients, it doesn't support that, then it's effectively a Windoze only solution. Both are based on the official Samba 3.0.9 sourcecode, related patches are available in the netlabs dot org CVS repository. New in this release is EA support! The packages are declared as alpha or beta but we got very positive feedback so far, the packages seem to be stable and fast! Some useres already replaced IBM Peer with it so you might give it a try! URL: http://samba dot netlabs dot org/ and more recently there have been a number of successive releases of e.g. on 08 nov 2006: Netdrive Samba client plugin 3.0.9 Beta 14 http://samba dot netlabs dot org/ "SAMBA is a SMB/CIFS protocols file and print sharing server/client set originally made for UNIX world to cooperate with corresponding Windows and OS/2 servers or clients. OS/2 has native implementation of SMB/CIFS server/client set - IBM LAN Manager and IBM Peer. These products haven't been updated for a long time and have some compatibility problems with modern Windows SMB/CIFS implementations. This package is the OS/2 port of SAMBA 3.0.9 client made as the plugin to NetDrive - a well known virtual file system for OS/2. OS/2 SAMBA client provides seamles access to SMB/CIFS file shares over your network using TCP/IP as the underlying transport protocol. The OS/2 SAMBA client consists of two modules: ndpsmb.dll - the NetDrive plugin itself. smbcd.exe - the SAMBA client daemon, which actually processes the requests from ndpsmb.dll." Samba Client NetDrive plugin updated: ftp://ftp dot netlabs dot org/pub/samba/ndpsmb-3.0.9-b14.zip Bugs should be reported to the XTracker at: http://xtracker dot netlabs dot org/index.php?project=22 According to the web site comments about SAMBA Client for OS/2 and eCS should be posted to the OS/2 newsgroup comp.os.os2.beta. You obviously have the TCP/IP stack running, are you running NETBEUI over TCP/IP, or plain NETBEUI ? There are also different versions of the SMB, and I believe that some parts of it were dropped in the NETBEUI over TCP/IP version for speed purposes, and possibly due to licensing issues in relation to Samba. I could have this a bit muddled up as this is coming from some very distant memories !
