I am switching to SeaMonkey from Firefox and Thunderbird and configuration is different. In particular I want to add a "File" icon to the Seamonkey mail client toolbar - on Thunderbird this is a simple option, but I simply cannot find a way to add objects in Seamonkey. I'd also like a list of all command line parameters for each of the programs for use in batch files. I expect this is all non-OS2 specific data, so it ought to be available somewhere. :-( Cheers/2 Ed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **= Email 2 ==========================** Date: Wed, 04 Apr 2007 10:08:27 +0000 From: Ed Durrant Subject: [Fwd: Information on the Mozilla suite of browsers / email clients etc.] OK, in the meantime, I found the setting of the icons in the toolbar: edit / preferences / mail and newsgroups / select buttons you want to see in the toolbar. Still would like a user manual anyway though for the command line switches (and the preference file setting possibilities) Cheers/2 ED. I'm surprised there's not a users manual, given the number of people who now use these programs across several platforms. Perhaps there's a "dummies Guide to Mozilla" book in the meantime ? Anyway, there is only one way to tweak SM properly at your wishes, and that's by editing the file prefs.js (as you can see at the link above). -- Groeten uit Gent, Kris ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **= Email 9 ==========================** Date: Wed, 04 Apr 2007 15:40:45 +1000 From: Mike O'Connor Subject: Re: eComStation compatible "all in one' motherboard Michael/Gail Peters wrote: > Mike O'Connor wrote: > >> Hi Mike, >> >> I'm not Ed of course, but just wondered why you don't instal the >> current eCS V2.o Beta4, which is much better than Beta3a?! >> >> Regards, >> Mike > Mike, > > I am not a Software Subscription subscriber because of the > digital delivery - until recently we were on satellite internet > limited to 500mb per month ! I go back to see the specialist in another month's time. I do now remember you mentioning the satellite service in the past. I was considering it before I went from dial-up to ISDN, but it was too expensive, as living in an urban area without either cable or (at that time) ADSL because of my distance from exchange, I wouldn't have been eligible for any of the Federal Govt.'s subsidies. Let's hope it won't be too long before Version 2.0 GA is available. :-) Regards, Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **= Email 10 ==========================** Date: Wed, 04 Apr 2007 16:17:15 +1000 From: Peter Moylan Subject: Re: Information on the Mozilla suite of browsers / email clients etc. Ed Durrant wrote: > Kris Steenhaut wrote: >> Ed Durrant ha scritto: >>> Does anyone know of a website or user manuals to describe how to >>> customise these programs. >>> >>> I am switching to SeaMonkey from Firefox and Thunderbird and >>> configuration is different. >>> >>> In particular I want to add a "File" icon to the Seamonkey mail >>> client toolbar >> Could you be a bit more specific? Could you let us know, once you're used to it, whether the switch was worthwhile? The original aim of the Mozilla project, as I recall it, was to get rid of all the "bloat" features of Netscape and go back to a pure web browser, uncluttered by things like integrated mail and news and so on. I guess the SeaMonkey project was motivated by the observation that Firefox and Thunderbird ended up bloated anyway, so they might as well be combined to avoid code duplication. Does SeaMonkey save a lot of disk and main memory space over the combination of Thunderbird and Mozilla running together? I must admit that I'm getting sick of the feature bloat and would appreciate finding something more compact. It's reaching the point where, even with a 400 MHz processor and 128MB of main memory, I get frequent annoyances (especially with Thunderbird) where the WPS just hangs for about 10-60 seconds, so I'm on the lookout for a better solution. -- Peter Moylan peter at ozebelg dot org peter.moylan at optusnet dot com dot au http://www.pmoylan dot org Please note the changed e-mail and web addresses.
