Keep all of the fax files in a separate directory and use the -L parm on Faxworks to point to the files. You can then copy the old directory to the newly created one intact and use it. -- Chuck McKinnis http://www.7cities dot net/~mckinnis/os2/ 505-286-3191 The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked. If it were me I would copy them to the standard sent directory, as they can be opened then from there. As for the 5volt and keyboard reference I made earlier, most of your computer uses 5 volt line and a lot also use 12 volt. The keyboard failure could have been because the original Power Supply Unit (PSU) failed catastrophically due to surge and allowed the surge voltage through on the 5 volt line. (This not uncommon.) Or the PSU shorted internally and allowed high voltage (240v) through on to the 5 volt line. (Very uncommon.) Since the keyboard is ONLY connected to data lines and 5 volt, and IF the failure was due to surge/high volts, then it MAY be an indicator to be suspicious of anything else in your system that draws on the 5 volt. USB is one such that directly draws on the 5 volt ONLY. It could however be coincidence and simply the oldest part is also the weakest electrically, and a slight surge allowed through, was the final straw that broke the camels back. ie The keyboard failed and in failing, is likely to have absorbed the surge and perhaps prevented other components from damage. This is what I THINK has happened. It is all conjecture. Only time will tell. But you MUST get a UPS.! The PSU you now have is one that is currently being sold at the computer markets in Melbourne for $30.00 by King Cable - YESTERDAY.! It is considered to be a VERY average PSU. Some hate it, some love it. A very mixed bag of opinions of this brand. Personally, I have had no experience with it at all, but then I tend to avoid cheap PSU's..! Cheap PSU's are cheap for a good reason. They are likely to have low quality components and most often part saved is in the MOVs, these are the internal components that give you SOME protection from surges on the 240v AC line. MOVs are the cheapest way of giving short term AC surge protection. They degrade with every surge and in time will give zero protection. ie, The next surge coming through will literally go right on through, unimpeded.! The thing to stress, is that in an environment where you are subject to AC surges, a new GOOD quality PSU will only give you protection for at best, a few years. Eventually the PSU's own MOVS will have degraded to the point where the next major surge, will destroy something. Usually the PSU itself. A CHEAP PSU will have almost NO protection when NEW. And MAY even now be allowing small surges through. The surges themselves can be causing booting problems too.! If it was me, I would also throw out you current Surge Protector as it MAY not be working anymore. Good quality units have indicators on them to indicate their functional state. A UPS is essential, in my opinion and far better.! _____________ As for the problem of using the hard drives with the other OSs. You now have to decide wether to TRY ALL NEW cradles and the FIXED part that hold the cradle into the computer box. For longevity, I suggest METAL ones. If you try plastic ones again, then if all are new and of the SAME brand then you should be ok for a year or two. The metal ones are much more expensive.! Over $100.00 a set.!
