At present I'm trying to find another Java program that uses the default JDK "File open" dialogue. Not much luck so far. I've downloaded jEdit and EJE. The jEdit installer fails to run, so I'm probably invoking it incorrectly. EJE runs, but it just asks whether I want to download a later version. When I say no, it exits. Even without those tests, though, I'm reasonably certain that my problem lies with whatever DLL implements the "File Open" in Java. -- Peter Moylan peter at pmoylan.org http://www.pmoylan.org The colour of a fireman's braces is entirely his own business. ----------------------------------------------- To Subscribe/Unsubscribe go to =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This is a pulp free product. **= Email 2 ==========================** Date: Wed, 29 Aug 2018 23:57:53 +1000 From: Peter Moylan Subject: Re: GenealogyJ stopped working On 29/08/18 00:39, deadmail wrote: > Hi Peter, > > All I can suggest is that you run PMDLL (PM DLL tree view, maintained > by some guy called Steven H. Unfortunately PMDLL cannot handle *.jar files. Thus, all I can do with it is look at the C:\OS2\JRE\Java11 directory, and so far that has not given me any insights. (Should I back up DOSCALL1.DLL? Unlikely.) I back up my own files, but so far I haven't been backing up directories like C:\sys\dll. Perhaps I should, but then how would I know what to restore? My backup of ArcaOS is on a DVD. At the moment I'm considering a complete reinstallation of the OS. A difficult decision, but I might have to do it. > Do you have another java app you can try? But JFTP doesn't use the Java "open file" dialogue, which is where I think the problem lies. Not sure about JAlbum, but I'd better try it. I've tried jEdit and EJE, but jEdit won't install for me (probably my own fault; I don't know what parameters are required in the "java" command), and EJE gives up after I admit that I don't want to download the latest version (which is almost certainly incompatible with OS/2). > I'm using my rollup of DLL's in firefox-45.9.0-3_dlls.zip at > Thanks.
