Oops, maybe we should try the obvious, upgrade Java :) The OpenJDK I have installed is from openjdk6b27ga5.wpi in Checking, I have Java131 installed on my C Drive, Java142 installed on my D Drive, and OpenJDK installed in my d:\apps directory. I dont use the TCP/IP or other OS/2 setup utilities so the might explain why I havent left Java111 around. In my config.sys file I have: SET JAVA2_USERHOME=D:\APPS SET JAVA_HOME=D:\APPS\OpenJDK SET JAVA_HIGH_MEMORY=1 and D:\APPS\OPENJDK\BIN included in LIBPATH D:\APPS\OPENJDK\BIN included in PATH so the OpenJDK is my default java, checking, thats the one I'm using all my java apps. From memory I kept Java131 because there is an occasion program I use that doesn't play nice with OpenJDK but I should take the time in December to check if I still actually need Java131 and Java142. It's OK, ArcaOS just packages it differently. I was briefly confused because I was used to seeing Java131 and Java142 directories, and they aren't there, but now I realise that I had overlooked that the main Java directory (version 1.6) is D:\Programs\OpenJDK. The "bin" subdirectory is correctly included in my PATH and LIBPATH. But there was never any doubt that I had a working Java 1.6, because GenealogyJ version 3.0 works (apart from the "open file" problem), and that requires java 1.6. Still, it might be a good idea to reinstall that OpenJDK, just in case there's a corrupted file in there. It beats reinstalling the entire OS, which was the other fallback position I was thinking of. -- Peter Moylan peter at pmoylan.org http://www.pmoylan.org The colour of a fireman's braces is entirely his own business. ----------------------------------------------- To Subscribe/Unsubscribe go to =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This is a pulp free product.
