It is going to be shipped to all customers with Software Choice subscription within the next weeks. We recommend to read the technote.txt file on the CP2 CDs to get an overview of all the things that changed. CP2 comes with the IBM Web Browser for OS/2 v1.1 (based on Mozilla), Java 1.1.8 and 1.3, the latest USB, UDF/DVD and COM drivers, and the latest kernel fixes, including the new ALT+F4 feature that pauses before each DEVICE, IFS, CALL and RUN statement in the CONFIG.SYS file. If you need more details about it, please send us a email, and we will update you on this. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ b) Review WarpStock Europe WarpStock Europe (Nov 2-4, 2001 in Diepenbeek, Belgium) has been worth the trip. Among all the products and presentations, some few were really spectacular: GoldenCode (http://www.goldencode.com) presented their Network Trace and Kernel Trace Facility together with the Trace Analyzer for Java. This suite of tools enables the Administrator or IT Specialist to trace all actions that OS/2 performs locally as well as on the network. GoldenCode will also present this solution on the next Warp Community Update Workshop (see "d)" below) InnoTek (http://www.innotek.de) presented their Virtual PC (see "c)" below) StarFire presented their "Network Computing Manager" software called "Titan" that encapsulates the wide variety of required information and skills into single activities, thus reducing the complexity of enterprise-wide administration. See their new web site for details: http://www.titan-central.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ c) Virtual PC Innotek and Connectix announced Virtual PC for OS/2 at WarpStock Europe. Virtual PC for OS/2 provides 2 solutions: First, an OS/2 client can use it to run any kind of operating system (Guest OS) within OS/2 as a "host" OS. This enables all OS/2 users to run Win32 applications as well as linux applications on their OS/2 desktop, even in an isolated environment (like mobile workers running OS/2 on their ThinkPad) Second, it enables Windows clients to run OS/2 as a guest OS, thus enabling any Windows client to run OS/2 applications as well. For details, see http://www.innotek.de/products/virtualpc +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ d) Pre-Announcement WCUW5 The next Warp Community Update Workshop is scheduled for week 9 (Feb 25-Mar 1st), 2002, at IBM Munich, Anzinger Str. 29, Germany. As always, the workshop itself will be at no charge, all attendants will bear their travel expenses. Conference language is english, and we're limited to a maximum of 40 attendants. To apply for the workshop, send an email to emeawarpatde.ibm.com with your Company Name, your Name and your Internet EMail address (no Lotus Notes ID, please). You will then get a reply with confirmation, map and travel informations. Accomodations: Please reserve a room in whatever hotel you like. We recommend the Munich Marriott Hotel (+49-89-360020) which has special IBM rates. Presentations: If there is any topic, product or solution that is interesting for you and your business, please let us know. If you want to present your own product or solution, feel free to contact us! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ e) New Partners By the end of this year, we certified new partners for their OS/2 compliance: - Carry Inc. which offers a 4-in-1 PCMCIA adapter for Smartmedia, Multimedia, .... check out http://www.carry.com.tw for more details. - Artem which offers a Wireless Network PCMCIA Card with OS/2 drivers. check out http://www.artem.de for more details. If you are interested in becoming IBM Certified, let us know. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ f) Updated Notes Client Lotus updated the OS/2 Notes Client to incooperate some of the latest fixes. You can get the Notes/Domino 4.5.7g to 4.5.7h incremental installer at http://www.notes.net/qmrdown.nsf/qmrwelcome?OpenView&Start=64&Expand=64#64 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ g) Lotus SmartSuite 1.7 available Lotus released SmartSuite 1.7 for OS/2. It is available in all major languages and can be ordered through your usual OS/2 Software channels. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ h) QuaTech SerialPort Solution for Thin Clients Since some of the latest computer cases (e.g. NetVista X40) do not provide enough space for a full-height PCI card, there was a lack of solutions for serial devices in the past. QUATECH's new xSCLP-Boards now offer 1, 2 or 4 RS-232-Ports in a Low Profile Format Some Facts: * PCI Bus 2.1 compliant * 16554 UARTS with 16-byte FIFOs for up to 921,6 kbps speed * Support for OS/2 and other operating systems These devices will - among others - also be presented on the next Warp Community Update Workshop (see "d)" above) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ i) Flash5 InnoTek (http://www.innotek.de/) will release a Flash 5 player shortly. Please watch their website for announcements. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ j) New services offerings: Migration & Win32 Integration We are now ready to offer the following new services on a time & material basis: IBM Integration Services - for Win32 Application : 6942-15C IBM Migration Services - for OS/2 Warp : 6942-15F IBM Integration Services - for Win32 Application targets the enterprise customer who wants to enable his OS/2 based clients to run Win32 Applications.
