This acquisition extends IBM's business integration capabilities, helping companies access and integrate all forms of information across the enterprise. Venetica technology enables customers to access and integrate unstructured information -- stored in a variety of systems -- to provide a single view of their business operations, customers and products. With the acquisition of Venetica, no other competitor can match IBM's ability to help customers store, access, manage and integrate the widest variety of business information in real-time, delivering information and business insight on demand. The value gained from this information allows customers to make better and faster business decisions, improve customer service and boost employee productivity Venetica complements IBM's open computing approach; based on the Java industry standard J2EE, Venetica technology allows developers to more easily develop, deploy and integrate applications and information. IBM will further enhance Venetica to support emerging industry standards (such as JSR 170 for accessing content repositories). Venetica will be part of IBM's DB2 Information Integrator family of products and complements our middleware portfolio, including WebSphere Business Integrator, WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Application Server and IBM Workplace initiatives. http://www.ibm.com/isource/cgi-bin/goto?on=IMNL904B14 State of Mississippi Using IBM Middleware to Enable First Responder Community Read Allison Berliner's article in Government Computer News about The State of Mississippi who is using IBM's middleware to enable the first responder community to execute more efficiently leveraging IBM's technologies and services. This result not only tops all other previously announced TPC-C results on an 8-way, but also demonstrates 16% better in performance compared to Oracle 10g running on the same IBM Server p5 570 8P and same amount of RAM. In addition, the DB2 result ($4.99/tpmC) was 5% better in price performance compared to the Oracle result ($5.26/tpmC). http://www.ibm.com/isource/cgi-bin/goto?on=IMNL904B23 IBM Ranked World's Leading IT Training Provider by IDC IBM announced that analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has recognized IBM as the industry leader in IT training for the second year in a row.
