How much of that system should be part of an organization's shared infrastructure and how much should be tailor-made to a specific application? Using examples from an enterprise implementation at the University of Michigan, this paper, published by Gilbane Reports, illustrates what benefits can be derived from leveraging a content infrastructure for DAM applications. http://www.gilbane.com/whitepapers.pl?view=12 On-Demand Access to Rich Media Assets: Gilbane Report Organizations facing a variety of problems and constraints, such as speed to market and scalability, are finding software services models to be the most cost effective approach to digital asset management. This paper identifies the four key factors in making the decision between a services model and on-premises installation. http://www.gilbane.com/whitepapers.pl?view=11 ------------------------------------------------------------ IBM Information Integration ------------------------------------------------------------ IBM DB2 Information Integrator Product Portfolio Renamed to WebSphere IBM has announced that the IBM DB2 Information Integrator product portfolio will be renamed IBM WebSphere Information Integrator. This branding change is effective immediately, and does not impact existing DB2 Information Integrator products or their functionality. The WebSphere brand represents integration and infrastructure software to maximize business flexibility and responsiveness. Integration and openness are core to the brand attributes that are also integral to the WebSphere Information Integrator portfolio and its role in providing organizations with real-time, integrated access to disparate and distributed information across IBM and non-IBM sources. Over the next several months, you will begin to notice reflections of the WebSphere branding on IBM websites, collateral, communications and subsequent product releases. This new benchmark result of 1334.96 JOPSatStandard means IBM's submission involved more than 10,000 concurrent clients and produced more than 1300 complex business transactions per second, which translates into more than 4.6 million transactions over the course of the benchmark's one-hour runtime. The IBM submission represents an IBM solution that brings together IBM servers and middleware running Linux. The result was achieved with four IBM eServer OpenPower720 systems used as Application Server Nodes. Each OpenPower720 ran WebSphere Application Server v6.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. The OpenPower720 cluster used a single IBM eServer OpenPower720 as a database server, which ran IBM DB2 Universal Database v8.2 Enterprise Server Edition and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9. DB2 Universal Database V8.2 for Linux provides freedom of choice, innovative manageability, industry leading performance, high availability, scale and lower TCO to customers deploying: an entry-level application for a few users; or a very large transaction processing solution over the Web; or a high-end data warehouse with terabytes of information. http://www.ibm.com/isource/cgi-bin/goto?on=IMNL105B31 Develop DB2 Alphablox Apps with WebSphere Studio Step-by-step, here's how to develop custom web-based analytical applications for your relational databases. http://www.ibm.com/isource/cgi-bin/goto?on=IMNL105B4 The DB2 UDB Backup Utility: A Primer Understand the latest, newest features of DB2 UDB backup.
