IBM June 2007

IBM Software Newsletter

Welcome to the June 2007 edition of the IBM Software Newsletter.

June has been a news-packed month for IBM Rational and its customers. On June 6 Rational announced plans to acquire Watchfire Corporation, a leader in Web application security and compliance. One week later, at the 10th annual IBM Rational Software Development Conference, IBM rolled out new Rational software and announced its new Jazz Project, which will shape future Rational products. Our lead story connects you to these and more news stories about IBM software.

On June 12, after a much-acclaimed public beta, IBM announced Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) 11 (code-named “Cheetah”). Be sure to visit the new IDS 11 page for more information and resources.

One final note: The momentum from last month’s service-oriented architecture (SOA) event, IBM Impact 2007, is still going strong. Visit a special Impact 2007 page where you can view keynote speeches, download an SOA brochure, and experience the event in Second Life. Don’t miss it.

Enjoy the newsletter.

Image   Development teams of the world, unite – and collaborate. IBM unveils Jazz Project, plus innovations across product line.

Attendees at the 10th annual IBM Rational® Software Development Conference (June 10-14) got a first look at the IBM Rational Jazz Project – a new, major investment by IBM to Keep Development Teams Rational.

Led by the IBM team that delivered Eclipse.org, the Jazz Project promises to infuse the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform with innovations that let development teams – particularly globally or organizationally distributed teams – collaborate in real time, in the context of the work they’re doing. Other Jazz Project innovations will help teams more effectively manage, audit, and control development. And IBM customers will be able to help shape the Jazz Project, and future Rational products, by participating in the new Jazz.net community. (To find out how you can participate, visit www.Jazz.net.)

IBM also announced new offerings across the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform, designed to help customers increase project insight and improve their return on their software assets.

There’s more. One week before the conference IBM announced its intent to acquire Watchfire Corporation, makers of technology that Rational developers can use to integrate security and compliance into their Web applications throughout the development process. And at the conference IBM announced its intent to acquire Telelogic, a Stockholm, Sweden-based leader in application lifecycle management technologies.

Learn all that’s new at the IBM Rational page.
Image   The Cheetah is unleashed. IBM announces Informix Dynamic Server 11.

Customers depend on Informix® Dynamic Server (IDS) for its blazing OLTP performance, legendary reliability and hands-free administration. The new, much-anticipated IDS 11 (formerly code-named “Cheetah”) builds on this legacy with innovations that boost replication performance, extend business continuity, and create a virtual “administration-free zone” by enabling even more automation and integration of administrative tasks.

See for yourself why “Cheetah” beta users were so impressed – and learn how IDS 11 frees your administrators to get closer to your business and further from the disks. Download a white paper on IDS 11 availability solutions. Tune in to the new Informix Radio for informative podcasts.

Or visit the IBM IDS 11 page to get all the details on this new release.
