The IBM Information On Demand EMEA Conference held in The Hague, The Netherlands, in early June, 2008 was an exciting and successful four day event that inspired networking, collaboration and thinking around how Information On Demand can be used to solve real business challenges and unlock the business value of information for competitive advantage.

Nearly 2,000 conference attendees, including 600 IBM Business Partners and 30 journalists and analysts, were on hand to learn about IBM Information Management. Over 50 Business Partners and IBMers provided a vibrant showcase of products, solutions, and service offerings in the Expo. In addition, with over 400 breakout sessions, conference attendees had ample opportunity to learn about Information On Demand and share ideas in an interactive forum.

At the conference grand opening session, Ambuj Goyal, General Manager IBM Information Management Software said, “The last two or three decades have been about the application agenda. The next two or three decades are going to be about the Information Agenda and working with IBM and IBM partners you are in the best hands.” Further endorsing Ambuj, René Carayol, best selling author on business transformation and IOD EMEA Conference facilitator, stated that organizations cannot maintain competitive advantage if they leave their businesses to assumption and chance: “We can’t afford to leave it to assumptions. We need the right information to the right person at the right time, to make those right decisions that sometimes protect our business and sometime enhance it.”

IBM announced several enhancements to its InfoSphere Software portfolio, such as the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server for System z, IBM InfoSphere Balanced Warehouse C4000, and various integrations with IBM Cognos 8. In addition, IBM announced extended ECM capabilities with Business Content Services, including integration with SharePoint and Lotus Quickr, to address all content needs across the organization, and Solid DB caching for DB2 and IDS, enabling extreme performance improvements for 10 times faster query response. IBM Business Partners also unveiled solutions designed to deliver trusted business information quickly and in a context appropriate to the people, applications and the business processes that rely on it.

More than a dozen of our customers enthusiastically participated in our on-site production of the Information On Demand Conference Highlights video to share their stories. Also, our customers, Intermec and Findel, issued press releases reinforcing their commitment to our Information On Demand portfolio as well.

		IBM Extends ECM Portfolio with Business Content Services IBM announced a new integrated approach to managing enterprise content with software that helps customers control, share and derive value from workgroups created across an organization. IBM Business Content Services will help businesses of all sizes address the explosive growth of content, including business documents created individually and collaboratively across diverse, and often global, workgroups. As part of the company's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software portfolio, this approach combines IBM's market-leading ECM capabilities with a variety of collaboration and social software options. Also introduced was IBM FileNet Connectors for Microsoft SharePoint version 2.2, which allow a seamless flow of content between IBM ECM repositories and Microsoft SharePoint servers.
