Several members have already installed it and have accumulated a base of useful experience and knowledge. PhillyOS2 member Jim Nuytens has invested considerable time and effort with Linux, and will do a Linux presentation at the March 28th meeting. Jim's presentation will be based on the Mandrake Linux, one of a myriad of Linux distributions, but one of the better ones for a number of reasons that he will discuss at the meeting. The presentation will focus on the client aspects of Linux. He will discuss the various apps that come as part of the Mandrake distribution, including KMail, the KDE web browser Konqueror, the newsgroup reader KNode, and the well-known graphics editing tool called The GIMP. He will also give you his impression of what the future holds for Linux in general. Additionally, Jim will discuss installation issues, how well Linux gets along with OS/2's Boot Manager, and the use of Linux's LILO and/or Grub programs to replace BM for booting multiple OS's. - - - - - - - - - - This month's REXX session will cover built-in functions, including Input/Output, String Manipulation, Time and Date.
