I have found this OpenSource project

 Everybody is an OpenSource Instant Messaging Client. It currently is available for 
Linux only.

 "As of right now, Everybuddy has support for AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! and Jabber chat 
programs. It also has file transfer between other Everybuddy users, and planned 
support for file transfer to other users." 

 This will be a good project for anyone that is planning to develop/port something for 
OS/2.
