Autoconf 2.53

"Autoconf is an extensible package of M4 macros that produce shell scripts
to automatically configure software source code packages. These scripts
can adapt the packages to many kinds of UNIX-like systems without manual
user intervention.  Autoconf creates a configuration script for a package
from a template file that lists the operating system features that the
package can use, in the form of M4 macro calls." 

"I. ***** REQUIREMENTS *****

A standard Unix like build environment:

- sh compatible shell (ksh, bash, ash, see also section IV. below) - GNU
file utilities (make sure that install.exe from the file utilities
  is in front of your PATH BEFORE X:\OS2\INSTALL\INSTALL.EXE. I recommend
  also to change the filename to ginstall.exe instead of install.exe
  to avoid confusion with X:\OS2\INSTALL\INSTALL.EXE)
- GNU shell utilities
- GNU text utilities
- gawk
- grep
- sed
- GNU make 3.79.1
- perl 5.005 or higher
- GNU texinfo (you can use 3.1 (gnuinfo.zip), but I recommend 4.0)

If you want to recreate the configuration files (developers only!) you
need also: GNU m4 1.4, autoconf 2.53, automake 1.6.2"
