I have brushed it up a bit and am releasing it as an additional application to WarpZip and the PillarSoft Suite. "WarpZip Lite" offers a lightweight way to extract zip files while working on your desktop. It becomes an "Open as..." menu selection for zip files objects and allows the user to extract the archive to any selected (or created) directory. Currently, WarpZip Lite works only on ZIP archives as the basis for this program was done before WarpZip had support for other archivers. Using WarpZip Lite is as easy as right clicking any zip file icon (object) and selecting "WarpZip Lite" from the "Open as" menu. Once the window opens, users may make their target directory selection and press the "Extract" button to unzip the archive and optionally, open the folder where it was unzipped. Users may create directories or let WarpZip Lite create directories based on the archive name. After a directory is created, WarpZip Lite will extract the archive and (optionally) open the destination directory folder on the desktop after the extraction. The user may also elect to use the "Quick Extract" selection. Quick Extract will automatically find the system TMP or TEMP directory and create a subdirectory based on the first eight chars of the archive filename. After the directory is created, the archive is extracted into it and (optionally) the directory folder is opened on the desktop. WarpZip Lite is only available to registered users of WarpZip or the PillarSoft Suite. ************************************** DATA SHIELD Data Shield has also been updated to be able to do secure cleanups on Mozilla installations. Data Shield is a secure deletion program that removes sensitive information from a hard drive. Normally, deleting a file only marks the file as deleted on your drive but the data remains and may still be recovered. Data Shield will obliterate it so that data may not be recovered by overwriting it x number of times or according to Department of Defense specification. It has options to do a standard or secure delete on: Individual files File listings Contents of a directory A directory tree Complete drives Freespace on a given drive TMP, TEMP or DELETE directories Netscape/Mozilla browser cache Netscape/Mozilla history and drop down history list Mozilla download database Data Shield will automatically find standard installations of Netscape 2.02, 4.04, 4.61 or 6.0 and Mozilla while offering to clean any part of it according to the versions need. In this version we have included the routines to securely overwrite and clean entries for Mozilla as well as a few changes in file deletion routines to increase effectiveness. If you have sensitive data on a drive (financial records or client lists for example) never give away or sell the drive without cleaning it thoroughly. ************************************** There is no charge for these updates. Data Shield is not for sale separately but is available as part of the PillarSoft Suite which has been updated to contain both of these programs plus 13 more OS/2 and eCS specific programs for only $99. WarpZip Lite is available as part of WarpZip or the PillarSoft Suite. WarpZip is $29 and is available through BMT Micro, Mensys and others.
