From: "Mark Dodel" I have received two messages today about bogus VOICE News posts (actually old News list posts) being recieved with attached win32 viruses. In both cases the user name was mine but the domain was phoney. If you receive such a post, please check the headers for where it actually came from and report it to the originating ISP's abuse address. At least the one I have seen the headers for did not come from the VOICE mailing list server. I check all emails for attachments prior to forwarding to the list and my ISP screens for viruses before sending me anything so the odds are slim that any virus would actually be sent over the VOICE News list, though certainly anything is possible. However, I only use eComStation to process mail, and the VOICE mail server is an OS/2 application running on Warp Server eBusiness, so we do not propagate this junk. If for some really bad reason you are running one of the many insecure, virus generating versions of windoze, can you please use FORMAT C: /FS:HPFS to correct the problem. It is the only real solution to this problem. Mark [Moderator's note: Because of the incredible increase in SPAM lately I will now endeavor to add DESPAM to email addresses in all posts to the News list. Yes I know that the ReplyTo and From addresses are not modified. This action is to protect email addresses that will appear in HTML pages. If you wish to send a response to someone listed in the post be sure to remove the "DESPAM" from any email address in the body of the post.] -- To unsubscribe yourself from this list, send the following message to majormajor at os2voice.org unsubscribe news end If you have an announcement you would like posted to the VOICE News list, please send it to submit at os2voice.org.
