Date: Tue, 24 Jun 2003 16:36:06 -0300 From: "Mark Dodel" Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: DFSee 5.23 released; BMGR detection improved From: "Jan van Wijk" For easy detection of several (eComstation/OS2) installation problems some interesting additions heve been made to the PART display that: - Will identify THREE different IBM bootmanagers correctly 1) The original one, created by FDISK, no I13X, no LVM 2) The updated FDISK one, now including I13X but no LVM 3) The one created by LVM, including I13X and of course LVM - WARNING if a bootable partition requires I13X to boot, but either the installed BMGR of the MBR code does NOT support that - Warning if primary 'active' partition beyond cylinder 1023 is present and the MBR does not support I13X - Int-13 limit (cylinder 1023) for BIOS is shown at DFSee startup together with a short description of the detected MBR-code DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning. Existing 4.xx registrations can be upgraded to 5.xx as well. But even more important, it enables further development of DFSee!
