Explanation: NetBIOS can not work with large Ethernet frame sizes which are used by default with Gigabit Ethernet adapters. Both transfer and receive buffer sizes should be set to 1024 bytes and USEMAXDATAGRAM set to "NO". The DIX 2.0 protocol type (ETHERAND_TYPE) should be set to "D". Procedure to change settings 1) From MPTS select 'Configure' 2) In 'Current Configuration' find the "IBM 1000BaseT Gigabit Ethernet Adapter" and press 'Edit' 3) Set 'Receive Buffer Size' = 1024 4) Set 'Transmit Buffer Size' = 1024 5) Select OK 6) In 'Current Configuration' find the "IBM OS/2 NETBIOS" and press 'Edit' 7) Set 'Type of Ethernet driver support = "D" 8) Set 'Full buffer datagrams' = "NO" 9) Select OK 10) Select 'Exit' MPTS. 11) Reboot The other possibility is to use "IBM OS/2 NETBIOS OVER TCP/IP". You might want to try this and compare the results to native NetBIOS. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ b) Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 with OS/2 Fixes Microsoft released Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000 for the following versions: * Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 * Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4 * Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4 See http://www.w2knews.com/rd/rd.cfm?id=030630ED-SP4 It indeed contains at least 2 fixes explizitely toward OS/2 Servers: * 309344 File Appears to Be Deleted Although You Do Not Have Permissions on the OS/2 Warp4-Based Server * 323582 Net3101 Error on OS/2 Server Because of SessionSetup SMB +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ c) Update for IBM Web Browser on SWC IBM has released an updated version of the IBM Web Browser 2.01 See http://www-3.ibm.com/software/os/warp/swchoice/ for the catalog in your language. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ d) OS2LDR Package on SWC From the readme: This OS2LDR.EXE package provides you with an updated os2ldr file for the OS/2 Operating System. The new loader fixes a system error that can cause system freeze. This error can occur on a PC with a PCI bus and many PCI different cards. This OS2 Loader is required for Enhanced SpeedStep support. If you are installing Enhanced SpeedStep on existing installed system that does not have Enhanced SpeedStep, then you may be required to install this OS2 Loader prior to the Installation of the Enhanced SpeedStep package. Enhanced PM applications performance can be realized when using accelerated GRADD drivers. Several new and updated GRADD drivers are included with this package. The following accelerated GRADD drivers are provided: * ATI Mach 64/Rage GRADD (M64GRADD) * Chips & Technology 6555X GRADD (CHPGRADD) * Matrox Millenium/Mystique/G100/G200 GRADD (MGAGRADD) * NeoMagic 2090/2093/2097/2160/2200/2360 GRADD (NMGRADD) * S3 86x/96x/Trio/Trio3D/Savage3D/Savage4 GRADD (S3GRADD) * S3 Virge GRADD (S3DGRADD) * Trident 3DImage975/Cyber9397 GRADD (TRIGRADD) Also included are generic VGA and SVGA support. * Video Graphics Array GRADD (VGAGRADD) * Generic Vesa Unaccellerated GRADD (GENGRADD) * Generic Vesa Unaccellerated & VGA (Default) GRADDs (G_VGRADD) GENGRADD may provide UNACCELERATED support for display graphics at enhanced resolutions and colors depths. GENGRADD will work with most adapters that implement VESA compliant BIOS and the performance, which will vary depending on system configuration, will not be as good as an accelerated driver. With FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning. For easy detection of several installation problems some interesting additions have been made to the PART display that: - Will identify THREE different IBM bootmanagers correctly 1) The original one, created by FDISK, no I13X, no LVM 2) The updated FDISK one, now including I13X but no LVM 3) The one created by LVM, including I13X and of course LVM Most important functional changes: - PART Detect 3 different versions of BMGR: FDISK/I13X/LVM - PART Format "none" = unformatted, "unknown" = unrecognized - PART -w Minor warning for IBM BMGR when it is not W2K protected - Startup of DFSee or DFSUNFD/DFSTART scripts use "FDISK -m" now - DFSIBMGR Fixed bug for disk other than 1, allow different name - PART Warning when MBR or BMGR has no I13X while required - TYPE Types 0x8a/8e/a8/ab/bb/fa/fb/fc/fd now recognized - TYPE XOSL bmgr 0x78 type recognized now (in PART cmd too) - LVM -n Do not update disk/sector if it is no LVM-sector yet - LVM -c Skip CRC update for non-LVM sectors (non-LVM partitions) - PART -s Added display of (old) BMGR-name, even when "--> LVM" - CHECK Does not set RC to #errors anymore, better for scripts - DISK/MAP Added System Commander MBR code recognition / display - PART/MAP Display INT13 1023 cylinder limit with the '-m' option - SET Added "set ASC 7/8" for 7-bit or 8-bit ascii output - TxWin Updated codepage-437/850 compatibility for TxWindows - TxWin Refined Windows NT/W2K/XP version if no servicepacks Please see: http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee.htm http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee523.zip +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ i) Updated FAT32 driver from Netlabs Netlabs finally has found time to upload it so others can download it. In this release, EXTENDED ATTRIBUTE support is enabled. If you don't want EA support, you will have to manually edit your config.sys and remove the /EAS from the IFS=G:\OS2\BOOT\FAT32.IFS /EAS /Q /CACHE:2048 Someone asked what is different about this one compared to Henk's driver. It is my understanding that you no longer have to boot to Windows to perform any chkdsk. However, this is what I was told on one of the forums. So far, with every crash, this fat32 chkdisk has worked (David Graser) Please see: ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/fat32/fat32_94b_netlabs.wpi +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ j) RSJ 5.02 release supports DVD writing In June RSJ released an update to their CD/DVD writer software for OS/2.
