Date: Thu, 04 Sep 2003 08:06:52 -0300 From: "Mark Dodel" Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: tin 1.7.0 for OS/2 From: Mike Forester For anyone who's interested, I've uploaded a port of tin, Iain Lea's menu-driven text-mode newsreader from Unix, to Hobbes. I'm really not a programmer, but the source is good enough that it was pretty easy to port. I'm not sure how well it works in all languages -- it has GNU gettext compiled in, but I couldn't get it to work with any existing OS/2 ports of libiconv. Nevertheless, it was the first newsreader I ever used and it's still fast and easy. And best of all, no reaching for the damn mouse. ;-) This version supports ANSI color, automatic downloading, batch downloading, binary decoding (BASE64, UUENCODE and yEnc by way of the UUDEVIEW headers), multiple sorting and threading options, easy kill filtin-1.7.0-os2.zipters (subj: *\[FUD4\]*), &c. &c. &c. Only tested on MCP2, which is all I have installed, but presumably it will work with most recent OS/2 versions. Uploaded to: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/tin-1.7.0-os2.zip and headed for: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu//pub/os2/apps/internet/news/reader/tin-1.7.0-os2.zip Source included. -- Mike Forester ---------------------------------- -> Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. -- Warpstock 2003 - San Francisco, California, October 18-19 http://www.warpstock.org [Moderator's note: Because of the incredible increase in SPAM lately I will now endeavor to add DESPAM to email addresses in all posts to the News list.
