Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2004 13:39:22 -0300 From: "Mark Dodel" Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: First alpha release of the IEEE 1394a - Firewire driver for OS/2 a From: os2info_NOSPAM_DESPAM at gmx.net Today, netlabs.org, the OS/2 User Group Dresden and Alexandr Cherkaev are releasing the first alpha version of the IEEE 1394a - Firewire driver set for OS/2 and eComStation. This version does not yet enable you to use external Firewire hard drive cases, it will only show if your Firewire controller is supported by this driver! Install the driver and use the included resource manager to see if the driver did correctly recognize your Firewire controller! The driver should work with all Firewire Controllers based on the VIA Technologies Inc. VT6306 chipset. However, Alexandr did a great job and enhanced the driver so that it should also work with other OHCI compatible controllers. We have already successfully tested the driver on the Firewire controller build into the IBM Thinkpad A30p. Firewire Support for OS/2 and eComStation is a Netlabs.org project. Because Firewire support is hardware related, it will also be hosted at os2warp.be. The Firewire pages at os2warp.be are currently under construction. Once they are finished, they will allow OS/2 users easy access to the latest Firewire drivers and support information. We are glad to work together with os2warp.be, the leading web site dedicated to OS/2, eComStation and hardware.
