Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 19:31:47 -0300 From: madodel at ptdprolog.net Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: Pronews/2 v1.55 released ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ Forwarded message from "Trevor Hemsley" on Sat, 30 Apr 2005 21:09:47 UTC Posted on: comp.os.os2.mail-news I'm pleased to announce the release of Pronews/2 v1.55 Pronews/2 is a multithreaded NNTP Newsreader program for OS/2. This release mainly fixes bugs discovered since the release of 1.54. If you are upgrading from a release prior to 1.54 then you are strongly urged to backup your existing filter files as the files have a different on-disk format from 1.54 onwards. Failure to backup files *.FLT in \pronews and \pronews\headers will mean it will be impossible to use your filters if you should need to revert to a previous release. You should also read the readme.txt file installed in the \pronews directory as this covers changes and new features from prior releases as well as tips for making Pronews/2 quicker. You can find Pronews/2 1.55 on ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming (later to be ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/news/reader) as pn2v155.zip. Pronews/2 is shareware and all profits from its sale are donated to the charity Save the Children. New features and important changes ================================== New in 1.55: you can SET PNALTDATE=1 to have the date column in the article window include the year in the posting date field. Pronews 1.55 is primarily a bug fix release to fix a problem that users of the 16 bit TCP/IP stack have with posting new articles on systems running a Warp 4 post fixpak 13 kernel. The 16 bit IP stack cannot utilize high memory. There are another dozen or so fixes in 1.55 that are not in 1.54 - the full list is in the fixed.txt file in your \pronews directory after install. -- Trevor Hemsley, Brighton, UK.
