Date: Wed, 16 Nov 2005 12:42:49 -0500 From: madodel at ptdprolog.net Subject: [VOICENWS] Event: Warpstock Europe 2005 - Things you should know ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: infoDESPAM at DESPAMwarpstock.net Warpstock Europe 2005 will take place in the city of Dresden, Germany, from November 18th to 20th. Here are a couple of facts that people visiting Warpstock Europe 2005 should keep in mind. Parking Problem on Friday The IFW institute is located at the university campus. This means that usually all parking places are taken by 8 AM. This is no problem on Saturday and Sunday, as there are no university lectures on the weekend. But if you plan to come to the IFW by car on Friday, be prepared to walk! Network Connection at Warpstock Europe 3 out of 4 session rooms are equipped with wireless LAN, so are the exhibition area and the user group room. Also, there will be a presentation about the new Wireless LAN Monitor and the new GenMac driver by Christian Langanke at Warpstock Europe. So if you have problems with your notebook and a wireless LAN card, bring it to Warpstock Europe! In addition, there will be an "Internet Cafe" that Warpstock Europe attendees can use to surf the web. All connections at the IFW are limited to HTTP and HTTPS to the outside world. This is a general rule at the institute and there is nothing that we can do about this! How to get to the IFW People from the OS/2 User Group Dresden have created a very interesting website to help Warpstock attendees find the IFW. The URL is: http://warpstock.net/wse2005/location/howto/ This websites lists all the required information to find this year's Warpstock Europe location. If you are staying in the University Guest House, or come to the IFW by train or car you can find descriptions of the routes on this website. Lottery during the Social Event There will be an official Social Event this year. It will take place at Saturday evening in the canteen of the IFW. During the Social Event there will be a lottery where hardware and software prizes will be given away. Among the software prices are licenses of applications that run on eComStation like DFSee, Maul Publisher and Pixel. Note about bringing Hardware into the IFW You can bring all kinds of hardware to Warpstock Europe, notebooks, desktops and such. When you enter the IFW building we kindly ask you to put a little sticker on your hardware that shows the security people that this hardware belongs to you and not the IFW. We will give out such stickers at the registration desk.
