Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2006 12:41:29 -0400 From: madodel Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: Mozilla's Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 Has Been Released ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: "Sander Nyman"<2sanderDESPAM at DESPAMsbcglobal.net> Mozilla's Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 for OS/2 & eCS has been released. Thunderbird is Mozilla's full-featured email, RSS and newsgroup client. This is a security and stability update. This release contains 62 bug fixes since the 1.5 version. It also contains 15 security fixes, 2 of which are rated critical, so updating to 1.5.0.2 is highly recommended. As was the case with Firefox, Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 is an immense improvement over it's 1.0.x predecessors. You can download it here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/1.5.0.2/contrib/thunderbird-1.5.0.2.en-US.os2.zip IMPORTANT NOTE: This release requires C runtime DLLs from Innotek. The latest version is 0.5.1, which includes an installer. Available here: http://download.innotek.de/gccos2/runtime/libc-0.5.1.exe IMPORTANT NOTE: To have both Firefox, & Thunderbird in use at the same time (or ANY other Mozilla app) they *MUST* be at the SAME version level, or a mismatched DLL from an older version will still be in memory when you attempt to start a second Mozilla based program. The easiest way to use DIFFERENT version levels of Firefox, Thunderbird, NVU, etc., is with Rich Walsh's Run! utility. It is tiny, and VERY easy to set up. To make life even easier, I HIGHLY recommend that you download & use the Internet Application Integration utility from Chuck McKinnis, which actually contains the Run! utility, and sets it up for you, along with coordinating your web brower with your email client for "mailto" links, etc. You can find it here: http://www.7cities.net/%7Emckinnis/code/iai1010.exe Or, if you'd rather do it yourself, here is the Run! utility: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/wps/run_060.zip Thunderbird extensions (add-ons) that add new functionality are available here: https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=thunderbird Thunderbird themes (skins) are available here: https://addons.update.mozilla.org/themes/?application=thunderbird A utility to migrate mail from PMMail to Thunderbird is available here: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/mail/reader/pmm_tbird.zip For more information on the Thunderbird e-mail and newsgroup client: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ For a list of what's new in this release: http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/releases/1.5.0.2.html Tips and tricks for Thunderbird can be found here: http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/tips If you have questions, or just want the latest, greatest tips for Firefox, Thunderbird, & Mozilla (Seamonkey), Steve Wendt's excellent "Tips For Warpzilla" page can be found here: http://www.os2bbs.com/os2news/Warpzilla.html And finally, if you still have questions, or just want to participate in a Mozilla for OS/2 discussion forum, the Warpzilla newsgroup can be found here: news://news.mozilla.org/mozilla.dev.ports.os2 Regards, Sander Nyman -- Warpstock 2006 - Windsor, Ontario, Canada, October 12-15th, http://www.warpstock.org Warpstock Europe - http://www.warpstock.net [Moderator's note: All posts are sent without guarantee to the accuracy of the content.
