Diebold Launches Industry's First Software Update Notification System http://finanzen.net/news/news_detail.asp?NewsNr=412026 It has a little quote from Sandra Jones, card services director for MAX Federal Credit Union (MAX FCU) that says. "When MAX moved from the OS/2 operating system to the advanced technology of Windows, we quickly realized that the system required closer management than our previous systems," Jones said. Here goes my personal opinion: First the obvious, Windows requires a lot more work than OS/2. It requires "closer management", which means spend more money in resources fixing ATMs. And that's said from someone that works in a bank. The second thing is a contradiction. "The advanced technology of Windows", which kind of advance technology make you spend more money in management? So in conclusion, ATMs should stay with OS/2 or migrate to eComStation to have support, but never switch to Windows.
