Date: Tue, 14 Nov 2006 06:59:45 -0500 From: madodel Subject: [VOICENWS] Event: Warpstock Europe: Latest news ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: infoDESPAM at DESPAMwarpstock.net Hi, this is the latest (and maybe last until the event starts) news report from the Warpstock Europe Organisation team. PRESENTATIONS / SCHEDULE: ------------------------- Changes might happen! The problem is that Henrik Heigl of CACert had to cancel his appearance quite suddenly. We are now in the process of checking if/who/how someone else can take over his sessions. If there's no solution at hand, we will simply cancel the INT07 sessions and fill the gaps with the sessions from the last slot of Sunday. That way, we will return to a closing of WSE at 17:15 (5:15pm) that we actually had planned. Note: This only affects the CACert- *SESSIONS*! Assurance digital certificates will still be possible of course at the booth of Team OS/2 Koeln/Bonn e.V.! (As soon as we have news for this, we'll broadcast them here) "PBX on eComStation" - revealed: The acronym "PBX" (which I didn't hear of too much until now) stands for Private Branch eXchange and means a private phone network with a central controlling system, although there's much more to it. So if you want to see a live, brand-new, state-of-the-art commercial solution that enters the market with eComStation on board, you shouldn't miss these presentation. (more details on the website) TRAVELLER SERVICE ----------------- Cologne Central Station: Basically, it's quite simple: Exit central station at either gate on the "Breslauer Platz" side (the side "without cathedral" this is in direction of ASCENDING track numbers). Then turn left to follow the "U" signs (meaning "U"nderground). After approx. 300-400 meters get down into the subway station, taking either entry - all ends up the same single track that is the terminus of Line 19 (the only one). SO get into the 19 in direction of "Buchheim" and exit the tran at station "Boltensternstrasse". Again, ake a walk of about 400 meters to get into the Youth Hostel (we wil have put signs there by thursday evening). (description will also be published on website) Parkings at YH: Yesterday I tried to find addtional parkings. You don't have to use the Zoo parking lot - especially since the entry was closed although there appear to have been free spaces and because it's not really close to the YH. If all spaces at the YH are taken, leave the parking and turn right into the direction of the bridge. After approx. 500 meters, there's a street named "Am Kuhweg" that will exit on the right (also indicated by "Hafen" or "Bus parking"). Follow that street! Pass under the bridge and follow up to the Bus Parking that will be on your right in 200 more meters. There should be enough free space in this area. From here, it's a 15 minute walk back to the YH using the reverse way. Returning: Leave the Bus parking and turn right. At the corssing, do a "U-turn" and enter the exit that ascends on your right (direction "Zentrum"). Change lanes onto the driveway and continue straight ahead. Then, turn either left towards centre town or right for accessing the motorway A1 (or A3, A4, A57 via the Koeln-Nord junction). TICKET PRESALE: --------------- I don't know why one would want to make this a secret - perhaps one or the other is interested in this: The WSE tickets page was "closed" on Friday. Although not everybody was able to find a combination for his visit, we have been able to sell an average of more than 60 tickets for each event day! This means more than 180 tickets were sold, which is quite impressive as we expect to sell quite a lot of 1-day tickets at the desk in addition. As soon as we have visitor numbers from the event, I will poste them here so that the WSE2007 team knows what to expect... :-) Well that was all for today - see you in Cologne! -- The Warpstock Europe 2006 organization team -- Roderick Klein, Roland Schmalenberg, Thomas Klein -- Warpstock 2007 - Where? http://www.warpstock.org Warpstock Europe - Cologne, Germany, Nov. 17-19th, http://www.warpstock.net [Moderator's note: All posts are sent without guarantee to the accuracy of the content.
