Software Maintenance Subscriptions
==================================

In order that I can maintain and improve Maul Publisher into the future, I 
have decided to implement a software subscription. I am trying to keep this 
as low as possible, it should work out at around 30 euro per annum, 
depending on your local tax rates. As I think this might upset some people, 
I would like to point out the advantages.

No more upgrades to pay for
===========================
Once you have a V3 license, you will no longer have to pay for an upgrade. 
If you have an earlier version and upgrade to V3.xx, you will get an 
automatic 12 months free software subscription. Similarly, if you buy a new 
license, you will get a free 12 months subscription. If you bought a 
license in 2006, your free subscription should already be active.

Subscriptions buy development time
==================================
Paying an annual software subscription is the best way to protect this 
product against being abandoned. In addition, your subscription will buy 
programming time that would otherwise not be available. So why not take 
advantage by requesting some new features at the same time?

What's new for 2007
===================
In order to start the 'ball rolling', I have begun the project of importing 
Windows WMF and EMF metafiles. I am pleased to say that this is now working 
nicely.

This will finally enable me to get text to import with images using Rich 
Text Format. RTF uses windows metafiles to store images.

Other work I am considering is the addition of ruby text markup for 
oriental languages, on the fly spell checking, and so on.

It all depends on the number of Software Maintenance Subscriptions I receive.
