Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2007 06:56:45 -0500 From: madodel Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: Lucide 1.0 RC1 available to eComStation customers ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Joachim Benjamins [Moderator note: For anyone having problems getting this version of Lucide to run, note the requirement for UCLIP to be installed. ] Serenity Systems International and netlabs.org today released RC1 of Lucide 1.0, a document viewer for eComStation designed as a replacement for Acrobat Reader. One goal of Lucide is to have a fast document viewer which is well integrated in the eComStation WPS and supports features like drag and drop and printing and which makes as easy as possible to work with PDF and other files on eComStation. Important note: Lucide now requires the UniClip package http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=UClip Lucide will not start without installed UniClip! UniClip is designed to allow OS/2 programs to exchange unicode text using the clipboard with other native programs or with odin-ized programs. It is compiled using Odin source code, so it shares the same clipboard formats recognized in win32 native programs. Changes since the previous Lucide beta release: - Ask for password, if document is password-protected. - Support for Pipe commands. - 'New window' menuitem. - Writes into EA thumbnail of first page of document (for eSchemes Deluxe). - Added 'print to file' option for postscript output. - Remember last selected printer during session (closed ticket #96). - Copy unicode text to clipboard in OpenOffice.org compatible format. - Optimized unicode conversion, fixes crash in uconv.dll (closed ticket #97). - Speedup for 'As Image' printing, fixed crash (closed ticket #94). - Odd/Even printing for 'As Image' printing. - Plugin API extension: extended error reporting. - PDF plugin: freetype library updated to release 2.3.0 (closed ticket #76). - DJVU plugin: handle document load errors. - Added NLS-files: Italian, Czech, Russian. - Updated NLS-files: Spanish, German, French. All registered eComStation customers can download Lucide 1.0 RC1 (as zip or WarpIn file) from the the eComStation Betazone, after login at: http://www.ecomstation.com/ If you find any bugs please report them to the Netlabs tracking system: http://svn.netlabs.org/lucide/ If you want to provide some more plugins for Lucide you will find the sample source code on this page as well.
