Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2007 07:55:59 -0500 From: madodel Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: Weasel 1.77 is finally out ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Peter Moylan After many unreleased beta versions, the new version of the Weasel mail server, version 1.77, is now available as a GA release. You can get it from or from Hobbes: or you can go to the Weasel web page at which also gives you access to Weasel filters and tools. Weasel is a POP3 and SMTP mail server, and is optional shareware supporting a single mail domain. Registration of the "Pro" version lets you host multiple domains, and will also enable IMAP once a production version of the IMAP add-on is released. (The present version of the IMAP addon is not recommended for production work, because of a serious bug.) LIST OF CHANGES since version 1.76 Version 1.77 (15 Jul 2007) Fixed: failure to update user count when a client is banned or blacklisted. Fixed the "100% CPU" problem when a client connects but sends no command. "Extra logging" checkbox in Setup replaces X parameter. Improved protection against denial-of-service attack. Fixed: problem with authenticating outgoing mail. Fixed: logging via a pipe was failing. Now allowing for up to 8 blacklist servers. Added comment in the manual to point out that the Rexx variable RC can be checked to see whether Weasel shut down normally or crashed. Minor change to INIData.Close. Updated transaction logging to improve the case of multiple threads writing to disk. Fixed: memory corruption in INI file operations. -- Peter Moylan peter at pmoylan.org http://www.pmoylan.org Please note that my e-mail address has changed yet again.
