Have you ever received an email that you wanted to print but it needed to be reformatted? Have you ever received an email that had been forwarded or quoted many times? Have you ever tried to print text that came from a unix or linux system? TextHelper can fix any of those problems and many others. TextHelper is a PM program based on the MultiLineEditor class from the IBM Open Class Library. I have added text manipulation functions and support for printing on HP Deskjet and Laserjet printers. TextHelper is not intended to replace any fully functional editor other than E or AE. TextHelper (refered to as TH) does not modify any system files when it is installed, although it does create a program object on the desktop. The trial version of TH does not have any time resatrictions, although it does have nag screens. TH has been tested on the eCS Silver release. TH can be configured to generate an automatic backup of any file that is modified. The backup file will have a number appended to the file name so that "config.sys" would become"config.sys.001". The next time "config.sys" was edited, the backup file would become "config.sys.002". TH will warn you if it has detected that changes have been made without saving the contents of the editor. TH supports long file names. The registered version will allow you to mark descriptive text in the editor and use it as the file name. TH can be configured to convert spaces in the marked text into underscore characters in the file name. One mouse click can open another copy of TH to work with more than one file. This can be done multiple times. One mouse click will open a new copy of TH and grab text from the clipboard and minimize that copy of TH. This can be done multiple times. Some of the text manipulation functions are: * removing forwarding marks from saved email messages think of multiple forwarding of a really good joke * reformatting plain ascii text to increase or decrease the number of characters per line. * strip leading or trailing spaces from text or remove multiple spaces from text. * remove blank lines from text * ROT13 - see the online help for an explaination of ROT13 * Envelope addressing if you have a HP DJ compatible printer * TH has too many functions to list here. TH may be registered for $10 (US). I suggest that you download the trial version of TH and install it. Keep it on your desktop and when you have found a use for it, please register it.
