Date: Sat, 03 Aug 2019 14:39:56 -0400 From: Subject: [VOICENWS] SW: DFSee 16.3 released; New DFSPUPPY versions ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice dot org ++ From: jvwDESPAM at DESPAMdfsee dot com DFSee version 16.3 has been released, with new DFSPUPPY versions and more. MINOR release, meaning you get it for FREE if you have a 16.x key already. The release replaces the existing DFSPUP64 with the new 'BionicPup' release from 2019 that is based on the popular Ubuntu 18.04 Linux distribution. The DFSPUPPY suite now consists of three variants: - DFSPUP64: 64-bit, UEFI-capable but REQUIRES a 64-bit CPU (recommended) - DFSPUP32: 32-bit, BIOS, may do UEFI, runs on 32-bit CPU (alternative) - DFSPUPPY: 32-bit, BIOS-ONLY, runs on 32-bit CPU. using a Slackware-based Linux distribution/kernel (original) Each has their own menu-item to download the IMZ image (Help menu) and to actually create the stick (Scripts menu). Between those three, you should be able to find a bootable USB-stick that works for about any system ... Of course, as usual, there are also smaller improvements and bug fixes. DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning, filesystem and disk analysis, file recovery/UNDELETE and smart imaging or cloning of partitions or complete disks. It will require an upgrade if you currently have a registration for an older version: http://ww.dfsee dot com/dfsee/buynow.php More details at: http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/ Direct download links from the DFSee website: http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/dfsee_install.zip http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/dfsee_windows.msi http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/dfsee_os2_wpi.exe http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/dfsee16x_dsk.zip http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/dfsee16x_iso.zip http://www.dfsee dot com/dfsee/dfsee16x_stick_iso.zip Or from the HOBBES website: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee163.zip or (after processing): http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/h-search.php?key=dfsee&pushbutton=Search Functional changes since 16.3 - ABOUT: Add OS version details for Win10-1903 and macOS Catalina - CR: Numbers allow an 0t or 0T prefix to force a decimal value - FIXEXT: Fixed crash on caused by 64-bit sector number display - LINUX: Not UPX compressed anymore (corrupt ELF header, may fail) - MENU: "Help -> Program Updates / Downloads": new DFSPUP32.IMZ item - MENU: "Scripts": new "Make Puppy32 boot (USB) disk" item added - PART: Presence of type 0xEF UEFI-syst does NOT imply GPT style! - PUPPY: Updated the DFSPUP32 startup scripts (older urxvt used) - PUPPY: Updated the DFSPUPPY.TXT to match the latest IMZ versions - PUPPY: Fixed disk-number passed to DFSPUPPY for DFSPUP32 stick - PUPPY: Suppress tabbed URxvt terminal window on DFSPUP64 stick - SCRIPT/SWITCH: Numbers allow 0t or 0T prefix for decimal value - USB Scripts: Updated 'RETRY after LOCK' message with 'NO FORMAT' Regards, JvW ========================================================================= DFSee Home: http://www.dfsee dot com; Jan van Wijk; Author of DFSee - mailto://info at dfsee dot com -- For a choice in the future of personal computing, Join VOICE - http://www.os2voice dot org [Moderator's note: All posts are sent without guarantee to the accuracy of the content.
